VERDINO and Symptoma as strategic partners under one roof

The creative agency VERDINO underlines its focus on healthcare and digitalization through a strategic partnership with the digital healthcare company Symptoma.

In order to benefit directly from synergies and to be able to use the competences of both teams, at the beginning of 2020 Symptoma has moved its Vienna office to the Atelier Belvedere, where VERDINO is located, and has thereby created a centrally located hub for its increasingly international orientation.  

Symptoma: the right diagnosis and therapy for every patient

Worldwide, one in seven diagnoses is incorrect or has been made too late. This affects approximately 1.5 million patients every year, who could be saved if they were correctly diagnosed. Even the best physicians are unable to keep track of the approximately 20,000 currently known diseases in everyday medical practice. 15 percent of all diagnoses are misdiagnoses. "This is exactly where our service comes in, offering a solution that helps doctors to make diagnoses much more efficient and reliable," explains Jama Nateqi, founder and CEO of Symptoma. 

Patients and doctors receive a prioritized list of possible illnesses based on the symptoms entered. In addition, a chatbot takes users by the hand and asks them further questions. Particularly patients with rare diseases benefit from this service.  Symptome is a solution based on artificial intelligence, which accesses what is now the world's largest disease database. More than 40 international awards and a place among the top 50 companies within the European Union underline the relevance and innovative power of Symptoma.

Using synergies — bundling competences

"We see very exciting points of contact in the diverse healthcare projects that VERDINO has realised and is currently supporting. Together we have the chance to create innovative solutions from which patients, doctors and the entire healthcare sector can benefit," emphasizes Nateqi.

VERDINO has taken some important steps during the recent years to make digital health innovations tangible and bring them to the ground through projects such as an awareness campaign on the future of medicine, high-profile events such as Health Innovation Fridays as well as active networking. 

"Digital services, tools and wearables have become an integral part of our daily lives and are entering all areas of the healthcare sector at an incredible speed. Very often this development is wrongly reduced to technological aspects and big data and is seen as a threat to the important communication between doctors and patients. But digitalization also brings enormous opportunities that we can hardly estimate at the moment," says Martin Verdino. "Symptoma is an example of this and has enormous potential to support the dialogue between doctors and patients, promote communication and optimize the diagnostic process. Particularly in the case of rare and complex diseases, it is possible to avoid the years of error leading up to a correct diagnosis, as repeatedly described by countless patients," adds Béatrice Verdino.


Symptoma is a search engine for diseases with millions of links to symptoms, laboratory values, risk factors and statistics, enabling doctors to find the right causes based on symptoms.

Today Symptoma is one of the largest symptom checkers on the market with 1.5 million users per month and has achieved the highest diagnostic accuracy in a performance study (peer-reviewed publication in the ENT Journal of Springer Verlag). 

Symptoma currently employs a team of 60 people, 45 of whom are medical professionals worldwide, and has already invested 14 years in research and development.
