LISAvienna: A strong presence of life science companies from Vienna at BIO-Europe Spring 2014 in Turin

Bio-Europe-Spring (BES) is the central partnering conference for the biotech and pharma industry in spring.

Different from its sister conference Bio-Europe in fall, this conference takes place every year in non-German speaking countries, usually in Southern and Western Europe. The host of this year`s conference was Turin, a city that has transformed itself from a typical Northern Italian industrial location into an innovation and technology hotspot, notably in the field of life sciences. Therefore, it did not come as a surprise that this year a new record in the history of the BES was achieved: The city was host of more than 2,000 participants from 42 countries. Also Austria was well represented with 20 exhibiting companies, from large corporations like Baxter or Sandoz to dynamic start-ups like Akron Molecules or Hookipa Biotech. The start-ups used the partnering conference to offer their technologies and products or search for financing partners for new development projects.

The Vienna life science cluster organization Life Science Austria Vienna (LISAvienna) was responsible for the organization of the joint Austrian booth under the umbrella of the common Austrian life science brand Life Science Austria (LISA). In addition to the the Viennese cluster, the Tyrolean and lower Austrian life science cluster organizations attended the conference in Turin.
