Purpose of the delegation visit was to present the infrastructure and organization of the life science location Vienna to the German delegation, to learn about the concepts and strategies of German bioparks and technology centers as well as to exchange thoughts between relevant stakeholders of the Vienna life science community and the German delegation regarding opportunities and challenges in this area.
As part of the program two shared core facilities were visited: the Equipment BOKU Vienna Institute of BioTechnology GmbH at Muthgasse and the Campus Science Support Facility (CSF) at the Campus Vienna Biocenter (CVBC).
After the visits, three German technology centers, TechnologieZentrumDresden, der BioPark Regensburg as well as Campus Berlin Buch were presented by the respective managing directors Bertram Dressel, Thomas Diefenthal and Andreas Mätzold, complemented by short presentations of the Vienna life science cluster LISAvienna (Johannes Sarx) and the Association of Austrian Technology Centers, VTÖ (Clemens Strickner).
Following the presentations the relevant stakeholders of the Vienna Life Science Community in the area of science and industry, representatives of the City of Vienna and its agencies as well as the members of the ADT-delegation engaged in a conversation in regards to political support, core activities and services, infrastructure as well as financing and organization of innovation centers and incubators.
