Today we would like to update you on current developments among support structures for Vienna’s and Austria’s life sciences community.
As of 2027, Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) will further align its activities in the life sciences sector with its national mandate and strengthen the umbrella brand LISA – Life Science Austria and its nationwide coordination. As part of this development, the city-level LISAvienna partnership will come to an end at the close of 2026, and LISAvienna will no longer continue as an independent brand.
Strong support for Vienna’s life sciences community will continue seamlessly: The Vienna Business Agency, on behalf of the City of Vienna, will further expand its activities in the life sciences sector and, starting in 2027, take on key responsibilities in the areas of networking, support, and ongoing assistance for Vienna’s life sciences companies.
This reorganization will allow the partners’ respective strengths to be leveraged even more effectively: aws will focus on raising Austria’s profile as a life sciences hub and on its further development in the framework of LISA, while the Vienna Business Agency will continue to strengthen city-level support and networking for Viennese companies.
This ensures that a coordinated and comprehensive range of life sciences activities and support services remain in Vienna. In addition, the life sciences industry benefits from targeted funding measures, new financing models, and the provision of and access to modern infrastructure tailored to the sector’s needs through the Vienna Business Agency. LISAvienna experts will become part of the Vienna Business Agency’s Life Sciences team, bringing their expertise and many years of industry experience.
Through the end of 2026, you will, of course, continue to receive all relevant life sciences industry information from LISAvienna. From the beginning of 2027 onwards, the Vienna Business Agency will take over this communication and become your central point of contact.
