Vienna, April 2013 - During the official visit by the Grand Duke of Luxembourg in Austria the Vienna Life Science Cluster organization LISAvienna organized a partnering and delegation visit for 6 Life Science companies and research institutes from Luxembourg.

In recent years the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has developed into a specialized Biotechnology location mainly thanks to the foundation of the University of Luxembourg and the numerous support measures by the Luxembourg Innovation Agency Luxinnovation. LISAvienna prepared a life science delegation visit focusing on leading research institutes such as the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), the Center of Molecular Medicine (CeMM) and the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) of the Austrian Academy of Science as well as the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) and the Children´s Cancer Research Institute (CCRI). During the visit the Institute of Hygiene of the Medical University of Vienna and the Centre de Recherche Public Santé (CRP-Santé), Institute of Immunology signed a cooperation agreement thereby intensifying their joint research work on Borreliosis.

In addition to the visit program, the delegation from Luxembourg received insights into the activities of the Vienna biotechnology companies AFFiRiS and APEIRON Biologics. Further opportunity for exchange was provided at the State reception in the Albertina.
