LISAvienna: BIO International Convention 2015

15,858 key players of the global biotech industry met in Philadelphia from June 15 to 18, 2015. Vienna was represented with 11 organizations at the joint booth of Life Science Austria and the Chamber of Commerce Austria. LISAvienna informed about the benefits of the Austrian capital in this area, mediated contacts with companies and research institutions and took the opportunity for an intensive exchange with the participants from Vienna.

A total of 15 companies, cluster organizations and research institutions utilized the Austrian booth, including ACIB, APEIRON Biologics AG, Arsanis Biosciences GmbH, Evercyte GmbH, TAmiRNA GmbH and the new knowledge transfer center “Wings 4 Innovation.” In addition to the substantive aspects, Mozart Balls, Manner wafers and premium coffee attracted numerous interested people. 15,858 representatives took advantage of the traditional meeting, to draw attention to new developments and identify future trends. The organizers are talking about a new record for partnering meetings with 29,279 individual meetings, which involved more than 3,100 businesses from 69 countries. Added to that were 207 company presentations and more than 750 lectures in 125 sessions, which were divided into 16 subject areas. These took up current business opportunities based on the latest research in medicine, diagnostics, environmental issues, energy production, the food sector, agriculture and other fields. More than 1,800 exhibitors were represented in the exhibition area.

LISAvienna was pleased with the large audience interest and supported the participants from Vienna with their international appearance. Comprehensive advice and the function as a hub contribute to continually develop the biotechnology industry in Vienna and to anchor it internationally.

Next year, the BIO will be held June 6th to 9th in San Francisco, California. In 2017 the International Who's Who of biotechnology will meet June 19th to 22nd in San Diego and in 2018 June 5th to 7th in Boston, Massachusetts. We are already looking forward to it!
