ImageBiopsy Lab: Born Global Champion Award 2017

Honoring ImageBiopsy Lab’s innovative and truly internationally oriented business strategy, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber has selected the company for its Born Global Champion Award 2017.

At the 15th Austrian Export Day at the end of June, Harald Mahrer (Minister BMWFW) and Christoph Leitl (President WKO) handed over the Born Global Champion Award to ImageBiopsy Lab. CEO Richard Ljuhar states: “This is a great reward for the ImageBiopsy Lab team and encourages us to continue developing new approaches that will ultimately change the way how bone diseases are being assessed and diagnosed.”

ImageBiopsy Lab (IB Lab) addresses existing problems in the assessment and tracking of osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and osteoporosis (OP). For the first time, IB Lab provides an objective evaluation and follow up of the knee joint on the basis of selected parameters (IB Lab JSxTM). In addition, applying a combination of bone micro architecture algorithms provides a unique way of an in-depth diagnosis of the condition of the bone (IB Lab BMAxTM).

Award for best poster at EFFORT 2017 congress
Recently, ImageBiopsy Lab has also received a special award for the poster presentation at the EFORT 2017 congress. The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) has selected the company’s poster entitled „A Novel Method For Identifying Radiographic Baseline Risk Of Osteoarthritis Using An Anisotropy-Based Texture Analysis Algorithm: Data From The Osteoarthritis Initiative“ as the best poster presentation on site in the corresponding scientific topic group.

About Austria’s Born Global Champion Award
Austria’s Born Global Champion Award honors an increasingly important type of young and highly dynamic enterprises. The so-called “born globals” are incorporating globalization into their business strategies from the very beginning and often act as game-changers in their fields of expertise. Such companies tend to create completely new markets by introducing totally new ideas or by creating niches in the market by combining existing ideas with new solutions. Apart from ImageBiopsy Lab, for example the following additional companies have received the Born Global Champion Award this year:
·        Lithoz GmbH: Development and production of materials and additive manufacturing systems for 3D printing of high-performance ceramics
·        Besurence GmbH: Manufacturer of in-vitro diagnostics for personal use at home, as well as for use by medical personnel
·        Ivary – Juno Institut GmbH: Empowering family planning by combining hormonal tests with advanced software

About ImageBiopsy Lab
ImageBiopsy Lab is developing and marketing a software-aided method for the assessment, follow-up and prediction of the various stages of knee arthrosis. Using machine- and deep learning algorithms, the radiograph is evaluated objectively in seconds according to standardized criteria and the results are presented to the physician in the form of a comprehensive report. Radiologists or orthopedic specialists can thereby reduce time-intensive routine work, increase the treatment quality and evaluate the influence of the therapy objectively. For users in research, as well as developers of pharmaceuticals, the methodology allows objective, reliable diagnostics in the conduct of clinical trials as well as in the tracking of drug effects.
