contextflow Announces Seed Financing Round

contextflow, a leading provider of artificial intelligence for medical image analysis, today announced a seed financing round led by IST Cube and APEX Ventures. Funds will be used to scale sales and marketing and continued innovation in their core AI technology.

Since 2016, contextflow has been developing next generation tools in close cooperation with globally recognised radiologists in order to manage their continually increasing workload and to improve patient care. contextflow uses deep learning based technology to analyse medical image data and connected facts, thereby supporting radiologists during their clinical routine with workflow oriented information search.

The round is a co-investment led by IST CUBE with participation from APEX Ventures. IST CUBE is a new venture fund, set up by the Institute of Science and Technology Austria with the aim to provide equity investment and support for science and tech based academic spin offs and startups. Rupesh Chatwani and Markus Wanko, the managing directors of IST CUBE comment: “We are glad to be able to support the contextflow team as our first investment, which perfectly fits the spirit and objective of IST CUBE”.

APEX Ventures is an early stage company builder fund backing deep tech ventures with a focus on unique and defendable intellectual property. APEX Ventures aims to support science driven startups in their ambition to turn into global leaders in their field and has completed four investments since its founding last year. contextflow is a spin-off from the Medical University of Vienna and the European research project KHRESMOI, and is supported by BMWFW through aws with JumpStart, PreSeed, seedfinancing, as well as by the Vienna Business Agency.
