The research platform Translational Cancer Therapy Research, which was recently established by the Bernhard Keppler and his team have already been working for many years on the development of anti-tumour therapeutics, and have given especial attention to the investigation of metal complexes. Platinum complexes are today among the commonest anti-tumour therapeutics. Roughly every second course of treatment for cancer sufferers contains a platinum complex. Ruthenium and gallium complexes have also become increasingly important in recent years, and to a certain extent are already being used in patient treatment on a trial basis.
