LISAvienna: January 2026 newsletter available online

Enjoy our update on news, events and funding opportunities.

While people are enjoying the winter magic at the Eistraum in front of Vienna’s City Hall, the ballrooms are buzzing with festive togetherness, from dancing to conversation. The recent Vienna Ball of Sciences and upcoming events such as the TU Ball and Vienna Medical Ball are highly appreciated by the community. A similar spirit of collaboration over division was recently demonstrated by the EMA and FDA with the establishment of ten common principles for AI in medicine development. Besides, FAST‑EU was launched. This is a new joint initiative by HMA, CTCG and MedEthics EU, that is now open to sponsors seeking an accelerated and predictable pathway for multinational clinical trial applications in the EU/EEA.

Life sciences are clearly a top priority in Austria, too: the new industrial strategy highlights the sector as one of nine key technologies in focus of future strategic development.

2026 has gotten off to a spectacular start with these and other news following the announcement of new measures to make the EU health sector more innovative, competitive, and resilient in mid-December covering the Biotech Act, the Safe Hearts Plan, proposals to simplify the MDR and IVDR and the mobilization of financial resources in cooperation with the EIB Group.

Read on to learn more about what’s happening at LISAvienna and within Vienna’s life sciences sector. As always, we also provide updates on funding opportunities and events.

Kind regards
The LISAvienna Team
