ÖGMBT ist the Austrian Association of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology. Every year in September the who-is-who of Austria's Life Science community meets in alternating locations (Salzburg, Graz, Innsbruck and Vienna) to discuss state-of-the-art science, to network and to learn about new products and services by suppliers showcased in the industry exhibition. As a highlight of the Annual Meeting the prestigious “Life Science Awards Austria” are bestowed. Preceding the Annual Meeting, the ÖGMBT caters to the booming job market in Life Sciences and gives young scientists the opportunity to meet recruiters from various companies/institutions at the Life Science Career Fair.
LISAvienna to chair a conference session on September 20, 4-5:30 p.m.: Looking beyond academia: The science behind biotech spin-offs in Vienna
We are happy to chair a session at this year's ÖGMBT annual meeting. To start, LISAvienna will present facts and figures on biotech in Vienna. Then, several young spin-offs from various academic home institutions in Vienna will deliver talks on challenges at spin-offs from a scientific point of view:
- The a:head approach: Using human brain organoids for drug development
Joshua Bagley, a:head bio AG
- How to develop organ-on-a-chip models for drug development?
Julie Rosser, Pregenerate
- How to identify novel molecular glue degraders?
Matthias Brand, Proxygen
- How to translate microRNA biomarkers from research to diagnostic-use?
Matthias Hackl, TAmiRNA
- How to overcome systematic errors linked to R&D based on biomaterials and cell culture?
Johannes Hackethal, THT Biomaterials
We are looking forward to attending the conference. Join our session and learn more about Vienna's flourishing biotech start-up community. The conference and the career fair at the brand new University of Vienna Biology Building at the Vienna BioCenter will provide great opportunities to grow you network in Austria.
