The symposia and workshops cover up to date research fields and are open for all yeast species. To make sure that the congress gives an overview of the latest developments in yeast research we will focus on keynote lectures, invited speakers and selected contributions of participants.
The International Commission on Yeasts (ICY) was founded in 1966 under the name International Commission on Yeasts and Yeast-like Microorganisms (ICYYLM), as a commission of the International Association of Microbiological Societies (IAMS), presently the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS). The present name of ICY was adopted in 1992 and it is now part of the IUMS Division of Mycology. ICY is represented by its members from more than 30 countries all over the world.
The aim of ICY is to promote interaction between scientists interested in research and teaching on yeasts. Therefore the commission organizes annual International Specialized Symposia on Yeasts and the International Congress on Yeasts (ICY) every four years.
