Convergence? Interfaces of the digital and the living

This two-day event that will explore and structure the rapidly developing connections of informatics and the life sciences, which are widely expected to change the way we live and die over the course of the 21st century.

Catering to a self-nominated avantgarde of scientists, scholars, and artists that connect the digital with the living, this interactive event will explore the “unknown unknowns” that emerge from the confluence of digitalization and artificial intelligence on the one hand, and biomedicine and the human body & brain on the other hand.

The event will explore developments and connections that are only starting to take shape, but which will likely be of critical importance for the “Homo sapiens digitalis” of the 21st century. It will focus on questions, scenarios, prototypes, and pathways, seeking to establish potential futures in broad strokes, while giving due attention to transformative details.

This conference is part of Colloquium Digitale: Digitalization, Human Beings, and Society", a series of events by the Austrian Academy of Sciences which offers a platform of discussion on the potentials, risks and effects of the digital transformation.
