MedUni Vienna in the Top 200 of the world's best universities for research

The Scholarset Global University Research Ranking has recently been published for the first time and the Medical University of Vienna has taken 176th place among the world’s best universities. This new ranking focuses exclusively upon the research activities of higher education establishments.

Scholarset is a Chinese academic network of researchers, engineers and educators. It uses Big Data to focus on the universities' research output and the quality of their scientific publications. It therefore provides an insight into the performance of the respective universities in the field of research and their impact upon the global research landscape.

The top places in the ranking are occupied by US elite universities, headed up by Harvard, MIT, Stanford and Johns Hopkins University. The best European university is Oxford (8th place). The best German-speaking university is ETH Zürich in 51st place.

The rankings of other Austrian universities are as follows: Vienna University (250), MedUni Innsbruck (266), Innsbruck University (283).
