LISAvienna: looking back at the conhIT 2016

Along with nine Viennese companies and research institutes, LISAvienna took part in the conhIT 2016 in Berlin. Over the last several years this has developed into the most important European event in the field of healthcare IT. conhIT has long been considered a mandatory event, especially in German-speaking regions. As the largest integrated event in the business, it offers an industry convention as well as a congress, academic elements, and high-level networking opportunities.

conhIT is geared towards decision-makers in IT divisions, management, medicine and care, as well as towards physicians, physician networks, and medical care centers who want to remain informed about current developments in healthcare IT as well as make contacts in the field and receive a high level of continuing education. From the 19th to the 21st of April 2016 approximately 9,000 international visitors (2015: 7,500) took advantage of this opportunity. 18,000 m2 (2015: 15.000 m2) were used by 451 exhibitors (+ 16% compared to last year) from sixteen countries (2015: 388 exhibitors from 14 countries) to display how, thanks to digitalization, a higher level of patient security, improved healthcare, and greater efficiency can be reached in the healthcare system.

Due to the growing importance of data security in healthcare, conhIT provided an ITsecurity area for the first time. For those interested, an overview of the steadily growing number of mobile solutions for medical professionals and for the end-user was provided in the “mobile health ZONE.” The concurrent congress with the motto ”Patient in Focus – Innovative Healthcare” was expanded and encouraged discussions on current topics in the field, such as Big Data, mHealth, wearables, datawarehousing, patient empowerment, E-health laws and the IT Security Act.

Austria was represented at conhIT by 23 organizations, with nine of those from Vienna. 16 companies and research institutes were represented at the Austrian booth which was organized by the trade department of the Austrian Embassy in Berlin. Another seven companies were represented with their own booths as individual exhibitors. LISAvienna, in collaboration with hts from Steiermark, the Medical-Technical Cluster from upper Austria, and the Life Sciences Cluster of the business promotion agency Tirol, used the LISA umbrella brand for the presentation at the community booth. Along with providing support and counseling to the participants from Vienna, LISAvienna also served as a point of contact for interested visitors from around the world.
