Arab Health is the largest medical exhibition and health care conference in the Middle East. This year, over 4,200 exhibitors presented their offerings to 103,000 visitors from more than 150 countries. For the first time, Austria was represented in Za'abeel Hall 1. This prominent position allowed for more participants to visit than in previous years. Significant successes were celebrated, especially by those companies that have been exhibiting for several years and have been nurturing their contacts in this part of the world.
LISAvienna was the primary contact for questions about life sciences in the Vienna area and assisted Viennese companies taking part in the convention with their tradeshow presentations along with details about current funding opportunities and networking with potential partners. Concurrently, Arab Health offered a first-class opportunity to analyze current industry trends – an important input for the further development of services offered by LISAvienna.
When it comes to the growing health market in the UAE, there are two aspects to remember:
- At the end of 2017, implementation of the “Salama Unified Electronic Medical Record System” was completed by the “Dubai Health Authority (DHA)”. Electronic health records are now available to more than 1.4 million patients.
- Health tourism is on the rise as well and this has led to a change of name for the DHA department “Dubai Medical Tourism” to the “Dubai Health Experience (DXH)”. In 2016, some 327,000 health tourists traveled to Dubai. Current calculations point to a 9% growth for 2017. By 2021, some 500,000 health tourists are to be expected annually.
Due to increased expansion of the tradeshow, the diagnostic portion of Arab Health had to be split off last year. Diagnostic companies exhibited at their own event, Arab MedLab, which took place one week after the Arab Health exhibition began.
Due to the large growth of healthcare facilities in the Middle East and the continued development of medical tourism, this market, and consequently also this tradeshow, continue to grow in importance. LISAvienna will be represented once again at Arab Health in 2019. Interested parties are invited to learn more about this event during a one-on-one discussion with Martin Mayer. Make sure to put the dates into your calendar: January 28-31, 2019.
