On December 3, 2007 the business plan competition “BOB – Best of Biotech: Get your Business started” will start for the fourth time. LISA VR is as prime partner on board.
As in 2001, 2002 and 2004, the object is not only to encourage the development of the biotech scene in Austria, but the LISA VR sponsoring allows to also improve cross-border collaboration between Austria and its neighbours. Best of Biotech thus helps to contribute to the development of a Central European life science region.
The competition shall motivate students, scientists at universities and non-university research institutions, as well as all other creative individuals to analyse research results regarding their potentials for commercial exploitation. BOB aims at identifying ideas that are suitable for starting up companies.
Special workshops and boot camps provide participants in the competition with invaluable help in dealing with the key issues of preparing a business plan. Combined with intensive coaching these workshops shall contribute to developing innovative business ideas in phase I of the competition. In phase II these shall be developed into sound business plans. A distinguished jury composed of 9 international experts will evaluate the business plans in phase II and select the two business plans that are to be awarded. Baxter sponsors EUR 15.000 for the best business plan, the second best will receive EUR 10.000 from Boehringer Ingelheim Austria.
For the first time AplusB centres are involved in the business plan competition to a great extent: In Vienna INiTS offers BOB coaching, is responsible for awareness measures and will train participants in a specially organized 2 day workshop.
