Eight experts presented the latest findings regarding cutting edge research topics in brief lectures, all of which dealt with the question of just how big of a role technology already plays in our modern society.
In his opening address, keynote speaker Georg Kapsch, president of the Federation of Austrian Industries, placed particular emphasis on the necessity of cooperative partnerships between the business and science communities. The topics of the lectures ranged from the fields of application for intelligent systems and the interface between medicine and technology to the energy transition.
Opening of the new building with Federal Minister Karlheinz Töchterle
On June 5, it was finally time to celebrate the grand opening of UAS Technikum Wien’s new building. During his address to the guests, Minister of Science Karlheinz Töchterle highlighted the practice-oriented education offered by universities of applied sciences and called on society to create more room for technology.
Other speakers during the festivities included Michael Würdinger, managing director of UAS Technikum Wien; Lothar Roitner, managing director of FEEI – Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industries and Hannes Derfler, the district representative for the district of Brigittenau.
Fritz Schmöllebeck, rector of UAS Technikum Wien, praised the balance between high scientific standards and applied research that has been pursued at the university of applied sciences for years. Following the ceremony, employees of UAS Technikum Wien took the guests on a tour of the new building.
