Evercyte: Human trophoblasts added to telomerized cell range

Evercyte has developed a new line of telomerized trophoblast cells derived from placental tissue to add to its expanding range of immortalized cell lines.

The telomerized TB/SVTERT350 trophoblast (TB) cells will be an addition to Evercyte’s recently developed Perinatal Cell Range, that form valuable clinical research resources in studying toxicity, placental barrier functions, and related problems in pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia.

Unlimited growth

All cell lines in Evercyte’s Perinatal Range are derived from different regions of the human placenta are telomerized to allow them to be grown without limitations in vitro while maintaining epithelial cell type-specific markers and functions.

Other cell lines in the range are P-MSC/TERT308 from Placental Amnion, CP-MSC/TERT308 Placental Chorionic Plate cells, RA-MSC/TERT308 Reflected Amnion cells, along with P-EP/SVTERT344 Amniotic Epithelial Cells (see Resources).

Key cell line in fertilization

Trophoblasts are one of the most important cell types in human and animal appearing in the earliest stages of pregnancy. They form the bulk of the placental structure, differentiating into the inner cytotrophoblast and outer syncytiotrophoblast layers during embryo implantation to provide nutrients to the embryo and play a key role in embryo interaction with the maternal uterus.

Telomerization

The new TB/SVTERT350 trophoblast cells have been immortalized by ectopic expression of the catalytic subunit of hTERT and SV40 early region, followed by a detailed characterization of the cellular phenotype and function.

This Evercyte telomerization process ensures these cells can be grown without growth arrest while maintaining a phenotype that resembles that of the corresponding primary/normal cells, providing a valuable and standardizable in vitro model to study placental development, perform toxicity studies, etc.

Research advantages

In research, the most important advantages of the telomerized trophoblasts and other immortalized cell lines are:

  • Extended Lifespan: Enhanced cell longevity to support long-term research projects
  • Consistent Performance: Reliable and reproducible results for your critical experiments These newly developed mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are derived from different regions of the placenta and provide valuable and standardizable in vitro models for studies such as those into the barrier function of the placenta or to perform toxicity studies.
