Vienna Textile Lab: BIG Bio Project Start – Bioeconomy Research and Practice Combined

“Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching.”

Great news! We had our kick-off meeting for the FFG Innovationcamp BIG Bio (Circular Bioeconomy Intelligent Design, Biogenic Innovation with Sustainable Orientation) on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 at the University of Graz with our project partners: FH Kufstein Tirol – University of Applied SciencesInnovationszentrum W.E.I.Z.Institut für Industrielle ÖkologieWood K plus – Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbHIPJ Ingenieurbüro P. It was an exciting opportunity to gather and collaborate on this important initiative aimed at promoting sustainable innovations with bio-based materials. The new FFG project BIG Bio aims to apply well-founded research results and support companies in the wood industry in carrying out life cycle analyses, developing sustainable circular business models, or adapting their product range with regard to sustainability aspects. The project is geared towards establishing knowledge transfer between scientific and industrial partners to develop sustainable innovations with bio-based materials and evaluate possible consequences. This will be achieved through promoting networking and collaboration between partners to achieve the common goal of sustainable development.

In staying up-to-date with advancements in sustainability, bioeconomy, and circular economy, we believe that each team member can participate and learn together. In Austria, there are many exciting developments and views that we can explore and incorporate into our work. By fostering collaborations and exchanging ideas with our peers, we can enhance our understanding of these topics and contribute to the development of sustainable innovations. Applying this knowledge allows us to continuously improve our impact and demonstrate our commitment to sustainability. Additionally, we strive to share our expertise and help others grow to create a better future for all. Follow us on this journey for the next two years!
