LISAvienna: WKO Austrian Showcase about Life Sciences in Singapore and China

May 10 to 18, 2015, an Austrian delegation traveled to Asia to establish and strengthen contacts with development partners in the promising markets of Singapore and China. Eight Viennese organizations took advantage of this prime opportunity for themselves. LISAvienna supported the trip which was organized by the Foreign Trade Centers Singapore and Shanghai in cooperation with the Vienna Economic Chamber under the direction of Walter Ruck, President of the Vienna Economic Chamber, as a cooperation partner.

A total of 12 pharmaceutical and biotechnology actors from Austria were able to get a first hand picture of the research environment in Singapore and benefited from the Austrian Sino Life Sciences Conference in Shanghai. Unique opportunities were offered to the Austrian companies to present their products and services to a Chinese specialist audience and to get to know potential business partners in B2B meetings. China’s center of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, Shanghai, was represented with 70 Chinese and international companies and almost 200 participants. A number of cooperation initiatives must be pursued next.

Delegations can sometimes result directly in successful business transactions, as was shown by the example of Inoxia Life Sciences GmbH. The Vienna-based company signed a cooperation agreement in the field of technology development with the Newsummit Biopharma Group from Shanghai.

The trip was made possible by the internationalization offensive go-international, an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy and the Austrian Economic Chambers.
