IB Lab LAMA™ 1.03 now supports images with implants

IB Lab LAMA™ 1.03 automates and standardizes 12 radiological findings and measurements on mandatory radiographs pre and post-surgery to ensure quality of care across different practices.

Currently, the lack of standardized assessment of lower leg alignment can frequently lead to potentially undetected systematic issues when performing surgery. The IB Lab LAMA™ Version 1.03 is an automatic implant measurement on long leg radiographs, which instantly produces over 12 radiological measurements that lead to time savings and standardization, enabling orthopedics and radiologists to improve quality assurance, as well as pre-and postoperative assessment of the hip and knee surgeries.

The new features of the IB Lab LAMA™ 1.03 diagnostic support tool further include:

  • Improved performance
  • Updated normality ranges for angles
  • Improved graphical report
  • Genu varus/valgus now added for non zero angles
  • Improved automated calibration handling
  • Improved networks and logics

IB Lab LAMA™ aids in the detection of genu varum/valgum by measuring the mechanical axis deviation (MAD) and detecting leg length discrepancy by comparing right and left leg on bilateral images. According to Paley, a detailed analysis of mechanical and anatomical angles allows informed decision-making on the next steps in patient treatment.

IB Lab LAMA™’s measurements of JLCA, HKA, mLDFA mMPTA and mLDTA based on mean absolute deviation all-around 1°,  MAD with 2.14 mm and leg length discrepancy is accurate to 0.98 mm of expert readers augmenting reading results, especially of non-experts. Reading time is brought down from 8 minutes to under 60 seconds needed for the calculation.

As nicely said by our CEO, Dr. Dipl. Ing Richard Ljuhar: “Our goal with IB Lab LAMA™ 1.03 is to improve the quality of postoperative assessment and save time for physicians without changing existing clinical workflows. Improving patient care starts by comprehensively documenting the results of each surgery which allows us to identify systematic errors in the surgical procedures or implant types. Automating administrative tasks increases the orthopedic surgeon’s productivity by automating measurements, documentation and establishing rationales for diagnostic and treatment decisions tailored to each individual patient. Especially for longitudinal follow-ups, these standardized measurements will allow precise monitoring and documentation of the success of the intervention.”
